Wyandotte, Michigan sits along the Detroit River, and its parks stay busy from the first pitch of Little League season to the last pickleball game of the fall. Now a growing number of those parks have something new: a SaveHeart by HeartNation outdoor AED cabinet, open to the public 24×7.
On February 6, the Wyandotte Fire Department (WFD) announced that “SaveHeart wall-mount AED cabinets are being installed throughout the city for 24/7 public access.” The project is part of the department’s Community Risk Reduction initiatives, which work to minimize accidents and keep the city ready for emergencies.

Starting at Pulaski Park and FOP Park
The first SaveHeart by HeartNation cabinet went up in late 2025 at Pulaski Park, home to a Little League football field and four baseball fields, where it sits near the softball field. The second followed at FOP Park beside the pickleball courts, a larger Wall-Mount with a custom decal.
The plan kept growing from there. The fire department named the FOP softball building and the Memorial Park baseball and softball fields as future locations, and in June, three more SaveHeart by HeartNation cabinets were being installed just in time for summer activities, bringing the city’s total to six.

A SaveHeart by HeartNation Cabinet Built for Michigan Weather
Michigan winters are hard on equipment left outdoors, so each cabinet is built to withstand the elements and stay secure. The WFD pointed to three features in particular: an audible alarm, a heated interior that protects the AED’s battery, and a 24/7 photo monitoring system.
The SaveHeart Wall-Mount is made in the USA by SaveHeart by HeartNation, weather-resistant and climate-controlled, with a back-lit top that is easy to spot across a park. Its smart monitoring confirms AED readiness and sends real-time alerts.
Inside, the AEDs are designed for both adults and children and need no prior training, with clear, step-by-step voice instructions once the device is turned on.
A Program Funded by the Community
Wyandotte found creative ways to pay for its SaveHeart by HeartNation cabinets. Funding comes from the fire department’s mobile food truck inspections and contributions from the city’s Special Events Department, with support from Wyandotte Municipal Services. Because of the costs, installations are being done in phases, and the fire department welcomes help funding future cabinets.
The cabinets build on a strong foundation. Wyandotte has 55 registered public access AEDs, including 26 at city facilities across the community, a significant investment in preparedness.
At SaveHeart by HeartNation, we’re proud to partner with the Wyandotte Fire Department and the City of Wyandotte as they bring AEDs outdoors to the places where families play and gather. Here’s to many more seasons of ball games, pickleball and park days ahead. Way to go, Wyandotte!
