SaveHeart Stories Newsletter June 2026

Dear friends,

As we prepare for America’s 250th birthday, my mind goes back to July 1976. I was an impressionable 6- year-old boy, and our nation was celebrating our Bicentennial. I vividly remember two things. First, my siblings and I wore our matching red, white, and blue “Spirit of ’76” T-shirts all summer long. Second, I remember watching in awe at my hometown’s 4th of July fireworks. It was the first time I consciously felt proud to be an American.

I realize now that not everyone back then shared the unblemished patriotism I felt as a youngster. And it’s equally clear today that many people don’t feel that same sense of pride. Growing older—as individuals and as a nation—brings a deeper understanding of our history, even as the passage of time pressures us to take our hard-won freedoms for granted. I hope that it also deepens our sincere appreciation for our remarkable founding principles.

Our Declaration of Independence was a revolutionary “shot across the bow” at the world’s most powerful nations, where kings and wealthy elites had ruled over their subjects for centuries. It promised that government derives its power from ordinary citizens—not the other way around—and that individuals possess the free will to forge their own destiny. We should celebrate America’s founding and beautiful history—warts and all—while continuing to build a more perfect union, together.

It may sound strange, but today’s growing movement to expand public-access Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) shares a vital connection with America’s founding story. Both are rooted in empowering ordinary citizens to protect, sustain, and celebrate life and freedom.
Only a few years ago, the idea of placing AEDs outdoors—in all-weather, 24/7 accessible, temperature- regulated, smart-monitored cabinets—was virtually unheard of. No longer. An ever-increasing number of communities and schools across the country have joined the fight against sudden cardiac arrest, the leading cause of natural death in the United States.

At SaveHeart by HeartNation, we are honored to support the amazing customers, partners, and community leaders driving this change. We’re incredibly proud to design and build our products right here in the USA, and grateful to play a leading part in building a new normal where lifesaving technology is available everywhere people gather outdoors.

Thanks for your continued partnership. Have a wonderful and safe Independence Day!

HeartNation Happenings…

“THIS TIME”, NOT “NEXT TIME”

"THIS TIME", NOT "NEXT TIME"

As June marks the start of summer, it’s a perfect time for kids to enjoy summertime activities, for families to plan special vacations, and for all of us to enjoy warmer weather and appreciate the many blessings we have. As National CPR and AED Awareness Month, June is also a great time for people and communities to talk about increased sudden cardiac awareness and preparedness.

Awareness drives preparedness. And preparedness will save lives.

Pennsylvania’s Greg Moyer’s Law is a great example. Named after a 15-year-old student-athlete who suffered sudden cardiac arrest during a basketball game, the law expands AED access at school athletic events and increases CPR and AED training requirements. Thanks to the efforts of Greg’s family and supporters, schools across the state will be better prepared when every second counts. Because when it comes to sudden cardiac arrest, “next time” may be too late.

Now that you know, what will you do next? Reach out and we’ll help you to increase access to outdoor AED’s to protect people at your school, park district, or township.

WOODHAVEN, MI INVESTS IN COMMUNITY SAFETY

WOODHAVEN, MI INVESTS IN COMMUNITY SAFETY

Nobody plans for a medical emergency at the park. We all hope it never happens.

That’s why we’re proud to see the City of Woodhaven, Michigan take a proactive approach to public safety with two new SaveHeart outdoor AED cabinets at Civic Center Park.

The truth is, these AEDs may never be used—and that’s good news. But if the day comes when someone needs one, they’ll be there.

Our thanks to Deputy Chief Chris Davenport, Fire Chief Bradley Myles, Mayor Patricia Odette, and the Woodhaven City Council for their commitment to protecting the people who live, work, and play in Woodhaven.

Safety doesn’t happen by accident. Well done, Woodhaven, and thank you for letting SaveHeart by HeartNation play a part.

WYANDOTTE MI PROTECTING ITS RESIDENTS

WYANDOTTE MI PROTECTING ITS RESIDENTS

Communities don’t become prepared by accident. They make a commitment. That’s exactly what the City of Wyandotte, Michigan has done with the recent installation of three more SaveHeart outdoor AED cabinets, bringing their total to six. These outdoor AEDs join the 55 registered public-access AEDs that Wyandotte has placed throughout the community, including 26 located at City facilities.

Congratulations to Wyandotte on its continued leadership and commitment to protecting residents and visitors alike. Your efforts are a wonderful example of what proactive emergency preparedness looks like.

Is your community interested in following their lead? Reach out to SaveHeart- we’d love to help!
